3D visualisation enables far greater understanding of multi-dimensional data of any kind. This is especially true for terrain morphology and sub-surface geological structures and anomalies.

Integration of digital earth observation data, Digital Elevation Model or DEMs with geophysical data (seismic, well logs etc) can enable valuable insight into complex spatial problems and can also reveal inaccuracies in models and interpretations.
